    Online community activity?

    Posted: 25 Feb 2021 11:12 PM PST

Is there still an active online community for AOM and AOM:TT? I used to play ~15 yrs ago, ranked pretty high like 1920+ and matched up a few times with some greats like hope naturephoenix GP Josey Wales. Some others I can't remember names. Dabbled in some high ranking clans Vagabond & PW. This was when the Isis FH strat was prime. I played Odin/Thor early raid or FH to counter and it was always a blast win or lose (I hated playing as Egyptian) Anyways, game still live? worth buying a key and logging back in?

    Titan idea for AoM2

    Posted: 25 Feb 2021 01:57 PM PST

So this is an idea i had for potential Age of Mythology sequel regarding how Titans are handled. A bit of context here, this is based on the assumption that the Atlanteans will be replaced by a real world civ (Aztec, Celt, Hindu, Mesopotamian, etc..)

So you know how when you research "Secrets of the Titans" you enter a pseudo-age called "Titan Age" and you get the big button to place a titan gate?

I think it would make more sense if in the sequel they just had 5 official ages: Archaic, Classical, Heroic, Mythic, Titan. So you save your resources, advance to the 5th Age, choose your Titan/Elder God to worship, the Godpower granted by worshipping that Elder God would be the Titan Gate. You place the gate with the Godpower and build it like normal. The Titan/Elder God that emerges from the Gate is the one you selected when you aged up.

So for Norse you worship Ymir and he emerges from the Gate. If you've seen pictures Ymir looks really Badass. If you are Egyptian you worship Khnum, and he emerges from the Gate. If you're greek you get Kronos or maybe gaia - this is also why this idea only works if the Atlanteans are not in the game.

I think there is an inherent logic to this, worshipping these primordial beings allows you to resurrect them and in turn for them to help you directly. And having specific beings from mythology is more fun and flavorful than having generic "titans".

    Thoughts?

Isn't showing the score of both players giving away information

For example you can see when your opponent is aging up which is sort of unfair.

Atlantis Reborn Scenario 2 - Inaccessible sky passage?

    Posted: 24 Feb 2021 03:46 PM PST

While using cheats to look at the map, I noticed a sky passage in the middle of the map pic. The only way to access it is through a gate at the back of the greek base pic. You gain ownership of it if you get LOS. Anyone have ideas of how to make use of this without cheats? I thought of using a Caladria but you can't create your own myth units on this level.

Edit: Found a strat that works. Choose Theia for Heroic age, put a Cheiroballista near one of the cliffs, use Hesperides, train a dryad and walk over to the passage. Makes the scenario easy even on Titan!

Regenleif scenario "Close to Home" missing from AOM Extended Edition?

    Posted: 24 Feb 2021 03:26 PM PST

I installed the game and the Tale of the Dragon DLC, but "aom_special_scenario.scn" is nowhere to be found in the "Load scenario" dropdown menu. Has anyone else experienced this or could offer advice?
