Fastest 2nd tc w/o idle time for each civ (also, odin/thor discussion) Posted: 06 Nov 2020 01:59 AM PST Can I get some time estimations for the fastest 2tc builds? I'm curious which civs benefit and what the benefit is. I've seen the ole norse tc, about 5:45 on a perfectly executed marsh map (various ways to get it) but it doesn't seem to be feasible for norse except maybe eggy or greek doing early 2nd tc. What times are the greeks and eggys hitting their second tc at in game? Maybe not earliest possible ever, but what is the preferable or typical time to have the second tc up by someone who knows what they are doing to an extent? I know atty can go earliest 2nd tc in archaic but no one does that on rated matches except maybe gaia, although if you know then you could share as well. Further discussion, I'd like to know, if you were doing a norse fast tc, what would the course of action be after it is built? Just play catch up getting units out and starting your aggression late? Try to boom, defend, go heroic? As norse it feels odd leaving the opponent unscathed until that late in the early game (no longhouse up before 6 mins, let alone 2-3), but if you have any ideas of the right steps to take after, please let me know. I guess this would primarily apply to thor and odin fast tc. Seems like the delay in military and aggression may make it not viable. However, in theory throwing down a gradual 4 barracks with 5ulfs and a hersir after tc, the economy should catch up for sustained unit production within a short time so i would be on par for unit count by like idk, maybe 7 mins (as opposed to standard 1tc with 3 longhouses going up with 1 ulf, 2-3 hersir), and exceed it from then on (due to additional 15 pop and stronger economy). That's a lot of time with only a Valk running around and poking things, but a delayed but more numerous mass of raiders (3 groups) could be better for effective raiding of 2tc opponent (hypothetically). This is all is not meant as a strategy for every situation. I was playing and lost to a 2k player who did a fast 2nd tc (me: norse vs him: greek) and just discussed with him afterwards what would have been a good way to fight, and he said that mirroring his strategy (early 2nd tc) would be good because it would be easier to keep up economically and his military is delayed anyways because of the cost of tc. I guess the idea he was conveying was the late-early game pop and eco disadvantage would be difficult to overcome. And the benefits of raiding are heavily dismissed when he has 2 tcs pumping vills. Not that raiding shouldn't be done, but just that it becomes far less effective. Wouldn't be good vs kronos, oranos, other norse, and I highly doubt it'd work vs fu xi and nu wa because call to arms would be too much of a threat to remain so vulnerable. [link] [comments] |
