    Kopesh Swordsman - Patch to cost 1 population, even weaker base attack but higher multiplier

    The Kopesh Swordsman is the most useless unit in AOM. Here's why and how to fix it:

    KS (30F 30G 65HP) vs Spearman (50F 20G 70HP)

    KS attack 5 - Spearman attack - 7

    KS Attack vs Vil multiplier 1.5x (so deals 7.5)

    KS Hack armour 20% - Spearman hack armour 40%

    KS Train Time 8s - Spearman Train Time 9s.

    KS Speed 5.8 - Spearman speed 5

    So your KS can deal .5 more than the spearman to villagers without upgrades and has slightly greater speed. We could examine the stats with upgrades but lets just say it doesn't particularly scale well vs the cost of line upgrades for a niche unit like this. Spearmen are almost entirely better on paper and can be used in military combat as well as raiding.

    Also, a KS loses to a villager 1v1 yet costs twice the population slot and this is the unit that it supposedly meant to counter! (vil = 65hp 8 attack 25% hack armour). I understand the caution in making an eggy raiding unit that is too good... but the balance is way off.

    In order for KS to be relevant in the game, they need to meet their intended design as a cheap unit that is only effective vs villagers. I suggest we don't make KS too strong (keep them very weak) but instead focus on making them cost less resource, pop and time.

    This way their cost will reflect their quality much more accurately and if an enemies villagers are completely undefended, there is a reason to build KS over spearman in some situations.

    My suggestion is that in the next EE balance patch:

    Kopesh swordsmen update as follows:

    25F 20G

    5 Attack --> 4 Attack

    1.5x Vil attack multiplier --> 2.25x Vil attack multiplier (will now deal 9 instead of 7.5 to villagers before armour reduces damage)

    2 Population --> 1 Population

    Hack Armour 20% -> 10% (weaken them so they are even less effective in military combat)

    Villagers have 0.75x attack multiplier vs KS (so that 1v1 a KS would now just about beat a villager in combat. it's still very close)

    Train time 8s --> 6s

    What do you think? would this balance Kopesh Swordsmen out?
