Age of Mythology 2 Wishlist plus Ideas Posted: 03 Apr 2020 02:24 AM PDT Greetings everybody. This is my first post here. If anyone ever created a sequel or a remake to this great game, here's the roster of 12 civillizations that deserve to be included. Also, I have other ideas that I would like to share with everybody here. Base Game- Greek, Egyptian, Norse and Roman Expansion 1/2- Mesopotamian, Yoruba, Celtic and Slavic Expansion 2/2- Chinese, Japanese, Hindu and Mayan/Aztec/Incan Words introduction: Please keep in mind that originally I also considered Lakota, Inuit, Hawaiian and Mongolian civillizations. However those would be pretty basic since they lacked plenty of the buildings the other civillizations have, I couldn't find enough creatures to make cool myth units, they would be hard to integrate into the story and be generally underpowered (though Mongol hordes did conquer and rule half the known world at one point in history). Plus, I would change the Titans' appearance- e.g. instead of Cerberus the Greeks would get Typhon instead. The first thing I would do is remove the Atlanteans and make some edits to the already existing civillizations. The Leviathan, Behemoth and Golem would be removed since they are creatures from Judeo-Christianity which shouldn't appear in the game. The civillizations would be more accurate: dark-skinned Egyptians and the Norse would wear fur pelts instead of being dressed like they came from a Wagnerian opera. Some of the changes I got the idea from mods posted on the Internet. I would also bring the Griffon and Trollkarien units as Mesopotamian and Celtic myth units respectively, though the latter would be renamed to Ogre. Story: The game's plot would be heavily altered since Atlantis would only be mentioned in the lore and be already a sunken dead myth instead of being a playable civillization. However, I don't know which would be better- should every civillization have its own separate campaign or should there be 4 campaigns in total- 1 tutorial and 1 for every expansion pack. Though there could be DLC, simular to the Golden Gift campaign. However the Mayan/Aztec/Incan campaign has to be separate from the others, for reasons that should be obvious. Civillizations: Here are the 12 different civillizations. 1.Greek: they would be very simular to how they already exist. The Greeks won't have the Manticore which will be given to the Mesopotamians, but they will get the Satyr. Civillization Icon- white Pantheon building like in ''Smite''. Titan- Typhon, the child of Gaia and Tartarus. 2.Egyptian: they would be very simular to how they already exist. The Egyptians won't have the Scorpion man which will be given to the Mesopotamians, but they can keep the Roc bird. Ptah would be replaced by Khnum and Sobek would be mentioned in Hathor's lore. The Egyptian deities should be redesigned to look like humans with masks of the animals that embody them or have the totem animal in their picture, instead of being stereotypical humanoid animals. Civillization Icon- yellow pyramid. Titan- Geb, appearing as a large rock golem thing simular to how he is depicted in ''Smite''. 3.Norse: they would be very simular to how they already exist. Civillization Icon- grey triangle of Odin like in ''Smite''. Titan- Ymir, though he would be slightly redesigned. 4.Roman: they would substitute the Atlanteans and have some of their gimmicks. They would worship the Titans/Protogenoi. The wonders would be changed: Kronos- Roman Coliseum, Oranos- large Parthenon type temple and Gaia- Aqueduct with fountain and statue. Favor- gain one point for every unit produced and every building created, however the more expensive and powerful buildings/units will give 2 or 3 or even 4 points instead. Caravan animal- domestic horse. Civillization Icon- purple eagle with the SPQR letters like in ''Smite''. Titan- Janus, appearing as a large metal giant with two faces. 5.Mesopotamian: Major gods- Marduk, Ishtar and Tiamat. Minor gods- Anu, Enku, Enlil, Dumuzid, Nergal, Ereshkigal, Ninurta, Ninhursag and Shamash. Wonders: Marduk- Great Ziggurat of Ur, Ishtar- her namesake gate and Tiamat- Hanging Gardens of Babylon. Favor- slowly rises when collecting the other resources (food, wood, metal and stone). Caravan animal- bactrian camel. Civillization Icon- blue star or sun symbol of the Anunnaki. Titan- Humbaba, appearing as a large scaly horned humanoid with long clawed ape hands, bird feet, mandrill head and sharp teeth. 6.Yoruba: Major gods- Olorun, Yemoja and Shango. Minor gods- Ayao, Eshu, Oya, Ogun, Osanyin, Ocoshi, Oshun, Orunmila and Aje. Wonders: Olorun- Sankore Madrasah, Yemoja- Larabanga Madrasah and Shango- Agadez Madrasah. Favor- have to build AND pray at several different statues of orisha deities. Caravan animal- sable antelope. Civillization Icon- orange African mask or shield. Titan- Aye, giant warrior with African armor and mask. 7.Celtic: Major gods- Dagda, Morrigan and Balor. Minor gods- Lugh, Brighid, Ogma, Dian Cecht, Epona, Camulos, Teutates, Cernunnos and Arawn. Wonders: Dagda- Druid grove, Morrigan- Stonehenge and Balor- Burial mound. Favor- sacrifice resources by placing them in special places (burrows, trees, lakes and megalith stones). Caravan animal- unicorn, which will be a white horse with golden horn and hooves, a goatee and lion's tail. Civillization Icon- green triskelion. Titan- Hesus, a giant treant (humanoid tree) resembling Grover from ''Paladins''. 8.Slavic: Major gods- Belobog, Perun and Chernobog. Minor gods- Svarog, Veles, Lada, Dazhbog, Stribog, Mokosh, Dodola, Triglav and Yarilo. Wonders: Belobog- Light and Life God Palace, Perun- Supreme Sky God Palace and Chernobog- Darkness and Death God Palace.* Favor- replacing the Atlanteans, they gain favor faster the more Town Centers they build and control (though they would build Town Centers from the Classical Age, like everybody else). Caravan animal- fallow deer. Civillization Icon- black 8-tipped cross wheel of Rod inside a circle. Titan- Drekavac, a giant black humanoid wolf or dog with chains and bits of armor on its body that replaces the Cerberus. *-Bad news is that I couldn't find any good buildings created by pagan slavs that serve as wonders. 9.Chinese: they would be heavily reworked to make them way more balanced and fun instead of ending up looking like a cheap mod. Shennong would be a minor god and would be replaced with Yan Luo Wang. The other 8 minor deities would be Yu Huang (the Jade Emperor), Chang'e, He Bo, Mazu, Dabo Gong, Zhong Kui, Xi Wangmu and Sun Wukong. Wonders are intact. Favor- increases slowly when researching upgrades and producing units. Caravan animal- domestic furry yak. Civillization Icon- brown parchment with an Asian dragon. Titan- Ao Kuang, appearing as a large bipedal Asian dragon. 10.Japanese: Major gods- Amaterasu, Susanoo and Tsukuyomi. Minor gods- Izanagi, Izanami, Kagutsuchi, Namazu, Ame no Uzume, Inari Okami, Hachiman, Tenjin and Ukemochi. Wonders: Amaterasu- Torri gate, Susanoo- Golden Pavilion and Tsukuyomi- Todai ji temple. Favor- hero units have to be created and pray at a Temple, with the emperor getting the most favor but is very expensive and weak. Caravan animal- serow goat. Civillization Icon- red triple domoe/tomoe symbol. Titan- Raijin, appearing as a large red ogre humanoid with armor. 11.Hindu: Major gods- Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva. Minor gods- Agni, Kali, Indra, Varuna, Durga, Kartikeya, Ganesha, Parvati and Saraswati. Wonders: Brahma- Kalasan Temple, Vishnu- Angkor Wat and Shiva- Brihadeeswarar Temple. Favor- slowly rises when building or repairing anything (Town Centers, Walls, Towers, Docks, Armories, Temples, Markets, Wonders, Titan Gates, Farms, etc). Caravan animal- Asian elephant. Civillization Icon- pink lotus flower with a Hindu letter on it like in ''Smite''. Titan- Garuda, a giant humanoid eagle dressed like a warrior. 12.Mayan/Aztec/Incan: Major gods- Itzamna, Huitzilopochtli and Wiracocha. Minor gods- Ixchel, Chaac, Ah Puch, Xochiquetzal, Tezcatlipoca, Quetzalcoatl, Urcuchillay, Pachamama and Ekkeko. Wonders: Itzamna- Temple of the Great Jaguar at Tikal, Huitzilopochtli- Great Pyramid of Tenochtitlan and Wiracocha- Sun Temple of Machu Pichu. Favor- get a set amount by killing any living creatures, with stronger enemies like hero and myth units giving bigger amounts of favor (not hit everything including buildings like the Norse, but outright kill living beings only); or your units must die, either in combat or suicide via delete button. Caravan animal- llama. Civillization Icon- cyan disk calendar like in ''Smite''. Titan- Tepeyollotl, a giant humanoid jaguar with Mesoamerican warrior clothes. Gameplay edits: There will be 6 resources- food, wood, metal, stone, population and favor. The population limit will be increased from 300 to 500. There will be domestic sheep as an extra herdable unit, as well as new huntable animals- wild horse and donkey, musk ox, dromedary and bactrian camel, llama, tapir, capybara, jaguar, cougar, serow, wisent, turkey, ostrich, rhea and capercaillie. There would be new random maps that will make skirmish mode much more interesting- e.g. the Yucatan peninsula jungle with south american animals simular to the one from AOE2. That is all I could come up with. Hopefully one day I will have a chance to draw these ideas and show them here. Please tell me your opinions in the comments section down, however the rude ones will be deleted. [link] [comments]

How active is this community? Is multiplayer alive and well on Steam? Posted: 03 Apr 2020 01:39 PM PDT I used to play way back in the day when there was an abundance of custom scenarios (cannibal survival, hero quest types, custom games etc) and supremacy was active. If steam isn't very active, are any of the other options better? [link] [comments]
